#9 - Classmate Blog Critique

 2021 Classmate Blog Critique

One aspect of our Mass Media classes that I particularly enjoy is getting to see and read my classmates' blogs as they update them throughout the semester. Not only is it interesting getting to see what my peers are looking at and researching for our assignments, but I am also able to get some ideas for the assignments if I feel stuck on the topic. While all of my classmates have done a great job on their blogs this semester, there are two that I wanted to focus on for the classmate blog critique. These two blogs are Mackenzy Turner's and Cory Evans'.

Starting with Mackenzy's, there are a few things that I really enjoy about her blog. Right off the bat, the appearance of her blog and the aesthetic of it is very appealing. It is a simple look and has a very convenient and efficient feel that allows the reader to easily scroll through her past posts. I think it is very important to have a look on your website that draws people in instead of pushing them away by being overly complicated or crowded.

My favorite thing about Mackenzy's writing in her blog is how she often puts a personal feel in the post, especially in her first paragraph. Many of her posts start off by talking about how that topic either relates to her personally or how it may relate to the reader personally. This kind of writing is very fun to read because, as the reader, you may feel a personal connection to a topic that you might not have ever thought about before.

Next, I want to talk about Cory Evans' blog. One thing that I really enjoy about Cory's blog is how it gives a very good look into who he is and what he likes. The blog makes it known that Cory is very interested in ESports, gaming, television, and technology in general and I enjoy reading Cory's blog because the reader is able to get a very good glimpse into Cory's interests and life. Not only do we see his interests, but he still writes in a way that is informational and interesting in whatever topic he talks about.

Another aspect of Cory's blog that I like is how much active media he actually uses in his blogs. In almost every one of his posts, there is a YouTube video covering whatever topic he is writing about. I enjoy this because now, not only do we get to hear and read Cory's voice and opinions, but we are also getting an outside voice from the YouTube video and we hear what they have to say about the topic. I think having active media incorporated plays a large role in the success of our blogs in these Mass Media classes and Cory has done a great job at this.

Overall, I chose these two blogs because I feel they both have a very personal feel in all of their posts and they also bring very informational and interesting perspectives on many topics. I enjoy getting to read the blogs of my peers when their website is appealing visually as well as interesting and accurate in the information, and I believe the both Mackenzy and Cory have done a great job at these aspects of their blogs.
